About Selin

Over the past 11 years, I’ve helped hundreds of students approach maths with a new mindset — one of confidence and curiosity. My BSc in Mathematics for Data Science has shaped the way I teach, blending structure with creativity. I work primarily with middle school students who struggle with algebra basics. Linear equations, polynomial expressions, and functions are my favourite topics to teach because they unlock so many doors later on. I use puzzles, visual aids, and real-life connections to make abstract ideas feel concrete. My lessons are interactive and paced to match each student’s comfort level. I know maths anxiety can be real, so I create an environment that’s encouraging, not stressful. Progress happens one clear step at a time. I celebrate mistakes because they’re part of learning. Seeing students move from frustration to confidence is what makes my work so fulfilling. Algebra can absolutely be enjoyable — and I help make it that way.

About the lesson

My method of teaching maths focuses on understanding and real-life relevance. I combine core mathematics with financial topics such as interest, investments, and budgeting. This helps students connect learning to real-world goals. I use simple examples and visual tools to make each lesson engaging. Students learn not only to calculate but also to interpret results meaningfully. For those preparing for coding challenges or Olympiads, I include logical puzzles and data-driven problems. These build precision and strategic thinking. My approach is patient, structured, and highly interactive. I believe confidence comes from understanding, not memorising. Each student is guided to discover patterns and logic through practice. We discuss how mathematical models can support better money management and decision-making. My goal is to make maths both practical and empowering. By the end, students see how numbers influence their world — and feel confident managing both equations and finances.
