About Mark
Hello! My name is Mark. I am 48 years old! I grew up in a tiny village in East Yorkshire, England. I firstly wanted to work in the social care field, so I did an HND in social care and management. After I finished that my tutor suggested I should go to University...I went to the University of York to study for a BA in social and cultural studies and history. I then thought as I had studied culture I wanted to experience living as a foreigner in a different country, so I went to South Korea in 2001 - It was not at all like it is today, there wasn't much English anywhere. While I was there I taught 6 classes of 20 students, 5 days a week...I made lifelong friendships with some of my students who still write to me ..some credit me with getting them into university which has an entrance exam in English. I love learning languages myself and this autumn I plan on going back to university to study for a masters...

I feel that I learnt Korean best by being immersed in their culture, you were in the language 24 hours a day. I want to offer conversational English, the day to day interactions that will allow you to survive in an English speaking country...Students think people are speaking complicated and mysterious things to one another when you realise everyone is just speaking basically about the same things in every country it gives you the confidence to try. My students loved my teaching style it was fun, friendly and non-confrontational - you learn best when you feel free to say what you want and make mistakes without issue...I can offer any type of lessons that the student feels would help them best in their situation and life....
