About Lerato

Hi, I’m Lerato Mthethwa!

I’m a Student Teacher from Durban and I absolutely love working with primary school kids 🤍

I’m currently studying my Bachelor of Education, so I’m learning the newest teaching methods and I understand the CAPS curriculum really well.

**Why I teach:**
I believe every child can do well in Maths and English with the right support. I know school can feel overwhelming sometimes, so my job is to make learning calm, fun, and confidence-boosting.

**About me:**
- Patient and encouraging - I explain things as many times as needed
- Creative - I use games, stories, and real-life examples in class
- Reliable - I’m on time, prepared, and I keep parents updated

When I’m not teaching, I love reading and helping kids discover how fun learning can be.

I can’t wait to meet you and your child and help them feel proud of their learning!

About the lesson

**How my lessons work:**

Every lesson is 60 minutes and made just for your child.

**For Maths Grade 1-7:**
We start by reviewing homework or what was tricky at school. Then we learn 1 new concept step-by-step using pictures, real examples, and games. We end with 2-3 practice questions to make sure it’s stuck.
Topics: Times tables, fractions, word problems, geometry, problem solving - all CAPS aligned.

**For English Grade 1-7:**
We do a mix of reading, speaking, and writing. We read a short story or passage, learn 3-4 new vocabulary words, practise grammar, and do fun writing activities. The goal is confidence + better marks.
Topics: Comprehension, grammar, spelling, creative writing, oral practice.

**What makes my lessons different:**
- Patient and encouraging - no stress, only support
- Lots of praise and small rewards to keep kids motivated
- I send parents a quick message after class with what we did
- Homework help is always welcome

All you need is a book, pencil, and for online lessons: Zoom + stable internet
