About Ivy

I’ve been teaching French for several years, and my greatest joy comes from seeing students find their voice in another language. My teaching style is warm and engaging, blending structure with spontaneity to make learning an exciting and personal experience. Having studied and worked in French-speaking environments, I bring cultural depth to every lesson — from idioms and accents to traditions and humour. I help students understand how language reflects culture, making each lesson feel like a small window into life in France. Outside of teaching, I’m passionate about French literature, music, and film. I often weave these influences into lessons, helping students experience the culture as they master the language. Teaching French isn’t just about vocabulary; it’s about sharing a living, evolving culture full of inspiration and creativity.

About the lesson

My French lessons are all about connection — connection to words, culture, and confidence. I believe language should never feel mechanical; it should feel alive, expressive, and enjoyable. Every session is tailored to your personal goals, whether you’re a beginner seeking foundations or an advanced learner refining your fluency. We start by mastering pronunciation and understanding key sentence patterns, then gradually move into real-world conversations that strengthen both comprehension and confidence. Intermediate students explore grammar in context and learn to think in French rather than translate from English. Advanced learners work on literature, idiomatic expression, and cultural nuance. Each class blends speaking, listening, and creativity — through dialogues, songs, and short stories that make every topic come to life. My goal is to help you speak naturally and comfortably, while experiencing the beauty and rhythm that make the French language so special.
