About Caitlin

I am a PhD student in Bioengineering at the University of Notre Dame with a background in Chemical Engineering and a strong foundation in mathematics, chemistry, and problem-solving. Throughout my academic career, I have developed both a deep understanding of technical subjects and a passion for helping others learn.

I have experience working with students as both a teaching assistant and a mentor. As a teaching assistant, I supported undergraduate students in understanding challenging material, answering questions, and preparing for exams. During my undergraduate studies, I also served as an I-PERSIST chemistry mentor for two years, where I worked closely with students to build both their academic skills and confidence. These experiences have taught me how to communicate complex ideas clearly and adapt to different learning styles.

I strive to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through difficult problems. I understand that everyone learns differently, and I am patient and flexible in my approach. My goal is not only to help students succeed in their current courses, but also to help them develop the confidence and problem-solving skills they need moving forward.

As a tutor, I am reliable, organized, and committed to helping each student reach their full potential.

About the lesson

I am a PhD student in Bioengineering at the University of Notre Dame with a background in Chemical Engineering and experience as a teaching assistant and mentor. I have worked with students across a range of levels, helping them develop strong problem-solving skills and confidence in math.

My teaching approach focuses on building a clear understanding of concepts rather than memorizing formulas. I break down problems step-by-step, explain the reasoning behind each step, and adjust my explanations to match each student’s learning style. My goal is to help students understand the “why” behind the material so they can apply it independently.

A typical session begins by identifying areas of difficulty, whether it is homework, exam preparation, or gaps in foundational knowledge. We then work through problems together with guided practice, and I provide strategies for approaching new or unfamiliar questions. I also emphasize organization and problem-solving techniques that are useful for exams.

What sets me apart is my experience as both a mentor and teaching assistant, where I have worked closely with students to explain challenging material in a clear and patient way. I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence.

I offer tutoring for high school and college-level math, including algebra, precalculus, and calculus. My sessions are well-suited for students who want to improve their understanding, strengthen their skills, and prepare for exams.
