About Joy

I am currently studying Architecture (BA Hons) at Ulster University in Belfast as a Year 2 student. I have about three years of teaching experience, including volunteering and teaching my sister for her studies. I can speak Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) fluently. I am a friendly, passionate, and enthusiastic tutor who helps students with any questions in their studies. I can also boost their confidence to achieve their target grades by creating an open and enjoyable environment, making students comfortable to ask questions and learn from mistakes so that they can study efficiently. As I study Architecture, I have a great and deep interest in Maths and Art, where art and science meet; therefore, I can use my experience to teach with real-life examples. If students do not understand the content, I will first explain the topic, then use some small quizzes to check their understanding and how solid the information is in their heads. Then, I will encourage them to finish some exam questions and mark them. Finally, I will explain any questions they do not understand.

About the lesson

My teaching techniques involve using spider diagrams, listing in bullet points, and drawing the diagrams out with oral explanation to help students understand the concepts and details easily. The length of a lesson is about an hour long. I have volunteered a few times as a teaching assistant in schools with a variety of age groups (3-5, 7-9, and 13-15). I can teach up to GCSE levels (online lessons only).
