About Madison
As a dedicated college student graduating in 30 days, I am passionate about education and committed to helping young learners grow and succeed. I will soon begin teaching in my own classroom, and tutoring allows me to continue doing what I love—supporting students as they build confidence, develop strong foundational skills, and discover their ability to learn.
My approach is patient, encouraging, and structured to meet each student’s individual needs. I create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable, capable, and motivated. I believe every child can succeed with the right guidance, and my mission is to help each student reach their full potential academically and personally.
I take pride in being reliable, professional, and prepared for every lesson. Families can feel confident knowing their child is working with someone who is committed, caring, and focused on real progress.

Teaching Method and Techniques
My tutoring approach is structured, supportive, and highly interactive, designed specifically for young learners developing early literacy skills. Kindergarten students learn best through explicit instruction, repetition, visuals, and hands-on practice, so I use research-based early reading strategies to build strong foundational skills.
I use:
Systematic Phonics Instruction – Teaching letter–sound relationships in a clear, step-by-step sequence
Model → Practice → Apply – I demonstrate first, guide students during practice, then support independent reading
Multisensory Learning – Students see, say, hear, trace, and build letters/sounds using movement and manipulatives
Sound Blending & Segmenting – Breaking words apart and putting sounds together to develop decoding skills
High-Frequency Word Practice – Repeated exposure to common sight words to build reading fluency
Positive Reinforcement – Encouragement and praise to build confidence and motivation
Repetition & Scaffolding – Skills are practiced in small, manageable steps to ensure mastery
My goal is to help students decode words, understand sounds, build confidence, and develop a love for reading.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A standard kindergarten phonics and reading lesson follows a simple, supportive structure:
Warm-Up / Review (3–5 min)
Review previously learned letter sounds, sight words, or blending skills using flashcards, sound drills, or quick reading practice.
Introduce New Skill (5 min)
Teach a new letter sound, word family, or reading strategy using visuals, modeling, and clear explanation.
Guided Practice (10–15 min)
Practice together blending sounds, reading simple words, identifying sounds, or building words. I provide support and immediate feedback.
Independent Practice (5–10 min)
Student reads simple words or sentences independently, practices phonics skill, or identifies sounds in words.
Reading Time / Application (5 min)
Apply skills by reading a short decodable passage or simple book.
Closure & Encouragement (2–3 min)
Review what was learned and celebrate progress to build confidence.
Lessons are short, engaging, and developmentally appropriate to match kindergarten attention spans.
