About Malik R
Hi, I'm Rashad — a Brooklyn-based tutor with a background in professional training and a genuine love for how people learn to express themselves.
By day, I work as a corporate trainer, helping people build real, usable skills rather than just check a box — and I bring that same philosophy into every English lesson: less about memorizing rules, more about actually being understood.
I've also spent time studying acting and performance, which might sound unrelated to language tutoring — but it's not.
Great communication isn't just about grammar; it's about delivery, confidence, and knowing how to hold a room (or a conversation).
I bring that same energy into lessons, especially when we're working on things like interview prep, presentations, or just building the confidence to speak up.
Outside of tutoring, you'll find me biking across Brooklyn, laughing at a comedy show, or belting out "Rebel Yell" by Billy Idol at a local karaoke bar. I care about doing things well and helping others do the same — and I'd love to help you (or your kid) get there with English.

I teach English the way people actually learn best: through real conversation, not rote memorization.
My method blends structured grammar and vocabulary building with immersive, scenario-based practice — role-plays, discussions, games, and corrective feedback that happens in the moment, not buried in red pen on a worksheet no one looks at again.
For kids, that means keeping lessons playful and interactive so language sticks naturally.
For adults, it means practical, real-world scenarios tied to work and life.
Either way, I focus on communicative competence first: speaking naturally, thinking on your feet, and building real confidence — not just passing a grammar quiz.
A Typical Lesson
Every session follows a simple rhythm, adjusted to the student's age and pace:
Warm-up (5 min) — casual conversation or a quick game to loosen up and review what stuck from last time
Focus point (15 min) — a specific grammar structure, vocabulary set, or pronunciation pattern, taught through examples pulled from real-world (or age-appropriate) context
Applied practice (20 min) — using what you just learned in a live conversation, roleplay, story, or task tied to your goals (a work email, a school assignment, a presentation, or just chatting about a favorite topic)
Feedback & wrap-up (10 min) — targeted corrections, a few key takeaways, and a short follow-up task that reinforces the lesson without feeling like busywork
What Sets Me Apart
I'm a proven training and education professional with a decade of experience — but more importantly, I come from a professional training background, not just classroom teaching.
I've spent years designing and delivering learning experiences that actually stick, for learners of all ages and goals.
That means I track progress, adjust the plan when something isn't working, and treat every student's time as valuable. You won't get a generic, one-size-fits-all curriculum — you'll get a learning path built around how the student actually thinks and where they get stuck, whether that's a working professional prepping for an interview or a child building foundational skills.
Who This Is For
These lessons are for anyone looking to strengthen their English — from children building foundational reading, speaking, and confidence skills, to teens working on schoolwork and fluency, to working adult professionals preparing for interviews, relocating, or wanting to sound more confident in meetings.
All ages and levels welcome, from beginner to advanced — I'll meet each student where they are and build from there.
