About Katie

Hi I am Katie a 17 year old currently, in year 12 . I took the optional GCSEs of Fine art, History, Computer science and Design technology. I love sports! My favourite is netball. In the past I have competed in gymnastics and have a black belt in karate. I love animals and have a cat and a rabbit. In the future I would love to go into the field of engineering so I am doing my A-levels in Maths, Physics and Design technology

I want to start tutoring to help guide children/teens, and to share my knowledge of the subject I love. I would love to help inspire young minds and ease any worry they may be feeling within maths. I have been told I am patient and would love to make the experiences as fun as possible.

About the lesson

I can teach KS2, KS3 and KS4 foundation maths. Lesson will be online for 30 mins - 1 hour. I can do sessions from 4pm on a Saturday and Sunday. I might not be able to do every Sunday due to potential away matches for netball. I will let you know in advance for any cancellations/ dates I cannot do. I can do lessons on a Friday 4:15- 5:15.

I will help your child to gain confidence in any maths topic, tackling anything they find particularly hard. I will adapt to your child's learning, going at their own pace, making sure they get the most out of a sessions. The most important part of teaching for me is to make sure your child enjoys what they are doing, which in turn will boost their confidence along their maths journey.

I will cover any topic they are finding difficult, help with a homework task they are finding hard, or teach them a new topic. I will need to know what topic they want to do prior to any lessons. My lessons will be a mix of me talking and demonstrating, then setting tasks. I will work through questions with them to make sure they understand what to do as well as setting independent tasks.

From the extensive private tutoring I have had over the last four years, I have learnt what is an effective teaching style and hope to use these skills to provide a calm, yet fun session. I look forward to getting to know my students in a mutually respectful environment. I will encourage my students to be open about how they learn and adapt my methodology to their individual needs.

I am in year 11 currently, and predicted grade 7s and above in all my subjects. I’m predicted a grade 8 for maths. In year 6, I was given the opportunity to do foundation AQA maths and received a grade 4. In year 9 I decided I wanted to find out more about statistics, learning it after school once a week. I got a grade 7. This was during Covid and therefore many lessons were done over FaceTime. I have also studied a bit of the further maths syllabus. I’m currently doing the higher tier IGCSE maths syllabus.
