About Jennessie

Hi! My name is Jennessie Richards and I’m currently a second-year student at Western Washington University pursuing a degree in Electrical Computer Engineering. I have 7+ years of experience working with kids ages 4-12 and have enjoyed every minute of it! I specifically have about 4 years of experience tutoring in elementary and middle school level math classes as well as a year of experience tutoring in reading. For the past 2 summers I’ve worked at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle WA, teaching kids ages 5-8 various science subjects.
Since I was a kid I’ve been extremely passionate about education and getting to share that with others and create a positive impact in their education journey is such a privilege!

About the lesson

I provide academic support to students (K-8) in a variety of subjects such as math, language arts, and science. I’m happy to support them in doing their homework, classwork, and general practice problems. I focus on specific areas where they may be struggling more and, depending on the subject, can provide additional practice problems or lessons to help strengthen their skills! For students with disabilities, both cognitive and physical, I make an extra effort to make learning work for them! I apply my previous experiences working with students with disabilities as well as connecting with the student's caregiver to learn what they know works for their student. With all my students I acknowledge that even as their tutor I always have room to learn from them as well! I find it’s the best way to connect with my students and aid them in their education journey!
