About Stephen
I'm a qualified and experienced secondary school teacher specialising in Maths, Philosophy, and Economics with a strong academic background and a passion for helping students achieve their full potential.
I hold a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of York (2:1), and a Master's in Global Ethics and Human Values from King's College London (Distinction). I trained to teach at the University of East Anglia in 2015, and since then I’ve taught in both state and independent schools across East Anglia and London.
In the early years of my career, I taught English as a Foreign Language in various settings across South East Asia, which sparked my love of travel and exploring new cultures. These experiences have helped shape my engaging and adaptable teaching style.
Whether you're looking for support with KS3 or GCSE Maths, A Level Philosophy or Economics, I bring both subject expertise and a calm, encouraging approach to each lesson. Outside the classroom, you’ll often find me hiking, playing football, or planning my next travel adventure.

In my classroom teaching, I follow a set scheme of work; however, tutoring allows for much greater flexibility and a more personalised approach. I begin by identifying each student’s specific needs and goals, then tailor our sessions accordingly.
A typical lesson might include clear, focused instruction, short assessments to check understanding, and constructive, targeted feedback. I aim to create an environment that is intellectually stimulating, encouraging and productive - whether we’re tackling tricky exam questions, revisiting core concepts, or building confidence over time.
My priority is always to meet students where they are and help them move forward with clarity and confidence.
