About Elena

I am currently a university student and loved my time in secondary school during both my GCSEs and my A-Levels. I studied Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at A-Level and loved studying these 3 subjects, especially Biology and Psychology since they tied together so much. I am a tutor because although I am really enjoying my time in university I would love to help students have the same experience and love for those 3 subjects as I did when I sat my A-Levels and GCSEs.

About the lesson

I believe in explaining things in a manner of way in order for students to best grasp difficult concepts. I like to implement active recall and active learning methods such as quizzes, recall games and fun tests. I also think that creating analogies for difficult concepts is a really good way to not just memorise a point but also to understand why it is that it happens or occurs. The typical length of a lesson would be around an hour however I believe it should depend on how the student feels about the material and how easily they understand the lesson. I have experience in ensuring students are prepared for exams and understand this subject as I am also a mentor on ZeroGravity and have been mentoring the same 3 students on the platform for almost a year. My lessons are for students of high school age (11-16/17) and also for sixth-form or college students (16-18/19) who are sitting or will be sitting GCSE, A-Level or equivalent exams.
