About Maiya
As a grammar school student myself, I believe this puts me at an advantage as I was in a similar position a few years ago when I really needed to be pushed beyond what I was currently learning. Unfortunately, my primary school wasn't capable of this and I ended up falling behind in my first year of secondary school. I eventually found myself taking the initiative to teach myself, having to search for as many resources as I could and I gradually improved and became one of the top students. A lot of people don't realise that once exams like the 11+ and SATs are over, it is a whole new ball game that wasn't made aware to me. Whilst it may seem merely impressive to know advanced content, it really does prove beneficial in the end and I hope I can be the one to provide it. I not only wish to help students academically, but to also instill confidence in their ability.

My lessons are designed to keep older primary school students (years 4-6) ahead of the game so that they are fully equipped by the time they approach secondary school. Although I haven't formally tutored before, I have experience teaching and mentoring others in various settings and I'm excited to bring my skills to this role and help students improve to reach a higher level of education than they currently receive. Lessons would typically range from an hour to an hour and a half and are formulated as a fusion between their current standard of learning and a style similar to secondary school so they are able to adjust when the time comes.
