About Kara
I am currently teaching 3rd-8th grade music (band, choir, and general music) and have just finished my fourth year. I find joy in watching the lightbulb moments in my students. When something challenging finally clicks and they understand what is happening, it makes my day. I obtained my Bachelor's in Music Education in May 2020 and will have my Master's in Music Education in December 2024.

I work with the student to develop what works for them. The benefit to having individual lessons is that they can be individualized! I love to work with flutes in a the elementary and middle school band setting as well as those that are gearing up for audition or solo and ensemble season.
I focus on teaching the student the basics and allowing them to blossom from there. Lessons always start with a basics warm-up, followed by a skills check from the prior lesson, and ends with new material. My goal is for the student to leave feeling successful even when the content is challenging.
