About Adam

Hi guys! My name is Adam and I’m an undergraduate at Swansea University studying Applied Medical Sciences with a view of doing a Graduate Medicine degree afterwards. I achieved GCSE grades 9-8 in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Maths, as well as A-Level grades ABB in Chemistry, Biology and Psychology respectively. While studying for my A-Levels, I tutored a number of boys in the younger years at school, to help them understand and progress through their GCSE Chemistry course. I mainly rely on a textbook to teach content, as it contains everything the student needs to know for the exam; supplementing this with hand drawn diagrams and my own explanations to help students understand.

About the lesson

I am able to tutor GCSE Chemistry and Biology to students who are either struggling with content or aren’t happy with their predicted grades. As a student myself, I completely understand the struggle many people face when studying science, especially since a lot of the content doesn’t quite make sense straight away and requires further explanation 1-on-1. I can break down long, complicated questions into understandable, basic chunks which are easier to get your head around. This strategy has helped me go from a D in Year 12 to an A in my A-Level exam. I also have a thorough understanding of exam strategies and how to gain all possible marks within a paper, as well as how to revise effectively in the moments leading up to and just before an exam. My teaching style is very tailored- I will focus on the student’s weaknesses within the subject and ensure they understand it fully and can apply it to different scenarios that the exam might require. Several weeks before the student’s exam season, the sessions will turn more into revision and exam technique tips and tricks sessions.
