About Zack

I am a very personable and understanding teacher that focuses on inspiring confidence in my students. I am also able to connect deeply with my students and have a friend-to-friend connection, as I am much closer to their age than their parents.

About the lesson

For each lesson, I start by evaluating where the student currently stands in their understanding of the topic. This gives me a clear idea of the areas where they might be struggling, and we can then spend more time on those challenging concepts. I am very hands-on and focus on positive reinforcement as I find it most effective. Where I see the most improvement is when the student understands the WHY & HOW behind the question, not just the WHAT. For example, WHY are we using that equation and HOW does it help us solve a problem, not just WHAT is the equation?

A typical lesson plan with me starts with introductions and an assessment to determine what concepts the student needs help with. From there, we dive into the topic, where I initially explain the fundamentals, build on them, and finally, offer practical examples to apply what we've learned. After each session, I send the student a list of potential homework activities to help them solidify their understanding further.

The main thing that sets me apart from most tutors is my advanced RECENT knowledge of the subjects I teach. I am fortunate enough to be receiving a top-notch education and am able to pass on what I learn. In terms of test prep, I know the ACT and SAT inside and out, and I have a teaching curriculum to help master the test itself. What I learned when preparing and taking the ACT and SAT (receiving a 36 and 1580 respectively) is that what sets you apart is not your ability to master math/english/science, but your ability to master the test itself (i.e. patterns in the questioning and phrasing that can improve your score drastically). I am very flexible and understanding in my approach and understand that each student is different and I tailor my teaching according to their specific needs. Furthermore, I create a comfortable and safe learning environment where students can share their opinions and learn without interruptions.

My lessons are designed for high school, or high school equivalent, or younger in almost any subject!
