About Edith

Apart from being an educator I am also a cross county and badminton player! I love to go on walks whenever time permits. Two of my favorites hobbies are reading and baking. Let me know your book recommendation! I love to make desserts and share them with loved ones.

I often travel to Mexico and would like to travel a bit outside of Mexico more! I would like to start learning Japanese and Arabic.

I have worked before as an English tutor, ESL teacher, and now English teacher. I have been with students as young as six years old to students with 17 years old. Through all these years my teaching philosophy has been to bring student's lived experiences and prior knowledge into the classroom. I believe in getting to know my students on a personal level where I can center my lessons around them. I believe that building a strong teacher student bond can, and has, benefited both me and my students.

A typical lesson plan can start out with a short warm up activity where writing is being done. Then sharing that writing activity out loud allows for speaking engagement. This allows to move into the main lesson, which can differ from student to student, and end with an exit ticket. This means students write and share out what they learned. Of course not all lesson plans will be the same and it's good to also know what you as the student would love to see more of! I am always making new lesson plans and would love to hear how you would want to see your classes be.

What sets me apart from other tutors is my ability to see my own mistakes. Teachers are not perfect, I know I'm not! It's important to see the human sides of teachers as well and know that just like you we are also always learning. Making mistakes is okay, in fact it's important to make them to better learn!

My lessons can be from all levels of English. I have taught students who did not know a single word of English up to students just needing grammar lessons. I am open to all different levels. I can help you with,
-Reading, writing, listening, and speaking English.
-Creative writing.
-English as a second language.
-Grammar.
-Vocabulary.
-Literature.
-Spelling.
