About Zachary
Graduated from Notre Dame College in Cleveland OH where I played college baseball. Moved down to North Carolina in 2017 where I pursued my teaching career. Currently at Apex High School where I taught Math 1, 2 and 3.
I am easy to get along with and make math fun! My students say I am kind and make math easier to learn, and I am caring towards my students. I try to get to know all my students so that I build a relationship and get to know what the students do outside of school and what they care about. I am also a big sports person! I currently coach football at Apex and have coached baseball and softball in the past!
My goal for tutoring is simple: Help students actually understand math and not just memorize steps. I focus on breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable pieces and building confidence step by step. A lot of students I work with come in feeling "not a math person" and leave realizing they absolutely can do it.

Work on problems that we can scaffold together (we do, you do approach).
How the session will look is based on where the student is. Sessions will usually include:
*Quick Diagnosis of where the confusion starts.
*Step by step explanation
*Guided practice together
*Independent practice with support
*Test taking strategies when needed
Make math fun! I am engaging in my classroom and make my lessons fun! I like to throw in silly jokes so students can have fun learning.
I also try to connect math to the real world to show why you need math and why math skills are important to have.
My lessons are typically for 9th - 11th grade, but I have worked with middle school levels as well!
