About Rebecca

I have taught 5 years of middle school math, 3.5 years in a classroom and 1.5 years over Zoom. I have been tutoring math online via Zoom for 3 years. Prior to teaching full time in a classroom I was a substitute teacher and a small group tutor. I am looking forward to working with smaller groups of students or individuals online so I can provide more attention to my students and their unique needs.

About the lesson

I specialize in basic math, pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry working with any age level. I find that students can become confused and develop a great deal of anxiety when they keep trying problems and getting them wrong. I break problems up into smaller steps to help me determine what a student is confused about. Once we clear up some misconceptions students quite often find that they are understanding math better than they realized. I also think it is important for students to have an opportunity to try multiple practice problems and get immediate feedback to help build their confidence.
