About Samantha
Hello! My name is Miss Samantha, and I have been helping students of various grade levels grow as learners for over five years.
I began my journey in education at a small tutoring center in the Bay Area of California, where I worked with students ranging from Transitional Kindergarten through 12th grade. After earning my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, East Bay, I pursued my Master's degree at the University of San Francisco. During this time, I also earned my Single Subject Teaching Credential in English.
My teaching experience includes working with 8th, 9th, and 12th grade English students before finding my current position at a private school in Vallejo, California, where I have spent the past three years teaching writing to 4th and 5th grade students.
Teaching English has always been more than a profession to me. Ever since I was a young girl, I have loved reading and writing. To me, these skills are much more than school subjects. They are tools for self-expression, communication, creativity, and understanding the world around us.
Whether I am helping a student improve their essays, strengthen their comprehension, develop their creative writing, or discover a love for poetry, my goal is always the same: to help students build confidence in their abilities and become stronger, more thoughtful communicators.
I am passionate about helping students succeed, and there is nothing more rewarding than watching a student grow into a confident reader and writer.

My lessons are designed to help students become more confident, creative, and effective writers. As a credentialed English teacher with experience teaching upper elementary, middle school, and high school students, I believe that every student has a unique voice worth developing.
I use a supportive, personalized approach that meets students where they are. Rather than relying on worksheets and memorization, I guide students through brainstorming, drafting, revising, and polishing their work. I encourage creativity while also teaching the practical skills needed for strong writing, including organization, word choice, grammar, and literary techniques.
A typical lesson begins with a short mini-lesson on a specific skill, such as figurative language, essay structure, or revision strategies. Students then apply the skill through guided practice and receive individualized feedback. Each lesson is tailored to the student's goals and learning style.
What sets me apart is my classroom experience and ability to create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable taking creative risks. Many students struggle with writing because they are afraid of making mistakes. I focus on building confidence while helping students develop the skills needed to succeed both academically and creatively.
Lessons are available for upper elementary, middle school, and high school students. I can help with creative writing, poetry, personal narratives, literary analysis, grammar, essay writing, school assignments, and writing enrichment for students who want an extra challenge.
