I worked as a public and private school English Language Arts teacher in California for 5 years,
then began working as a professional tutor full time in 2007.
Currently, I am a professional English tutor; I tutor students between elementary school and high school in
writing, reading, and SAT/ACT prep.

I adapt my lessons according to the student's needs; in my group classes, I give a combination of assignments to help students grow in reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar. I keep the rules of
writing to a minimum to encourage students to write more and worry less about making mistakes. I
read the essays, make comments and suggestions for improvement, and assign re-writes so the students can watch their essays turn into a beautiful finished product. I also spend time carefully reading sentences students write for vocabulary words, and short paragraphs students write as summaries of their reading assignments. I also have some original exercise designed to help students improve the overall style of their writing. That is just a quick snapshot of my program.
