About Jack

ABOUT ME I'm a pianist and composer of instrumental and electroacoustic music with a taste for the weird and wonderful. I specialise in teaching improvisation, extended harmony, and composition, with a focus on contemporary jazz, classical, and experimental music. I trained at Goldsmiths, University of London (Postgraduate Certificate in Composition, MMus in Sonic Arts) and the University of Manchester (First-Class BMus). I’ve worn several hats at the piano in a diverse performance career, working in jazz, film scoring, theatre, dance, and avant-garde music. PROFESSIONAL HIGHLIGHTS Feature film soundtrack recorded at Abbey Road Studio Three Music commissioned for Sadler’s Wells Main Stage and Union Chapel Jazz and experimental appearances at Café OTO and IKLECTIK Collaborations with Gilad Atzmon, Arve Henriksen & Yaron Stavi International touring as a session pianist including Pitchfork Festival Paris, Haldern Pop Festival, Kaltern Pop Festival LISTEN TO MY MUSIC If you're curious to hear more of my work across different styles and settings, here are a few recent and upcoming releases: Wetroom – Managed Decline (2025) Experimental jazz duo exploring texture, noise, and improvisation. About the lesson

Find your voice at the piano. I teach improvisation, theory, and composition for curious musicians of all levels. LESSONS My lessons are creative, collaborative, and tuned into your personal musical taste. Whether you're exploring jazz harmony, diving into composition, or just starting out with improvisation, I’ll help you understand the sounds that move you and how to make them your own. We’ll begin by chatting about the music that excites you, your goals, and any inspirations or challenges you're bringing with you. From there, we’ll use custom exercises, listening, and experimentation to open up your technique and musical awareness. No two students are alike, so no two lessons are either. INSTRUMENTS I teach Piano (with a focus on jazz, improvisation, and contemporary music), Composition, and Music Theory. I'm also adept with DAW software like Logic Pro and Ableton Live, and well-versed in a range of recording and production techniques. FIRST LESSON In our first session, I’ll take time to understand what draws you to music and what you want from your lessons. We’ll listen, play, and begin to map out a direction that feels exciting and sustainable. Don’t worry if you’re unsure where to begin—that’s what I’m here for.
