About Rena
As a student going to UCLA and Menlo School graduate with years of teaching, editing, and publishing experience, I’m passionate about helping students unlock their full potential as writers. I was selected for the highly competitive Iowa Young Writers’ Studio, a nationally recognized summer program hosted by the University of Iowa’s top-ranked creative writing department. I’ve also served as a Senior Editor at Polyphony Lit, led my high school’s literary magazine as Editor-in-Chief, and worked as a teaching assistant for English and AP Language classes. In addition, I’ve taught creative writing to students ages 5 to 17 and have received multiple Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for poetry and personal essays. I bring a warm, structured, and student-centered approach to tutoring—whether you’re looking to build foundational writing skills, craft standout college essays, or explore your creative voice.

As someone who has a lot of experience teaching students how to write and editing their pieces, I will help kids learn how to write compelling arguments and stories. I love creative writing and helping students craft unique stories but also have much experience writing applications for schools or programs. As a high school senior, I know what it is like to write different prompts and also what type of writing programs like. My lessons are for 5th to 9th graders. I plan to customize each lesson to the student and what they need, with a focus on helping them brainstorm and editing each draft.
