Programming can be extremely challenging. You need to break down a problem into a very specific set of instructions, but not only that, you need to make sure it's efficient, readable, maintainable, reliable, secure.
That's no easy task! But taking a problem and creating a program to solve it, using your knowledge, your reasoning, it's extremely satisfying.
I believe that having a deep knowledge of how things work is essential.
Learning a technology without understanding the reason things are the way they are, you become constrained by it.
Technologies come and go all the time, especially in this industry, but the basic principles remain. When you have a solid foundation, you are able to adapt more easily and pick up new knowledge faster.
