About Michael
As a computer science student with a strong foundation in mathematics and three years of experience as a paraeducator, I specialize in helping students build confidence and mastery in math through proven, student-centered techniques. I’ve supported elementary and middle school learners in both classroom and one-on-one settings, so I understand how to meet students where they are—academically and personally.

My teaching approach is grounded in active recall, visual learning, and step-by-step reasoning. Instead of relying on rote memorization, I guide students to retrieve knowledge actively and understand why math works the way it does. I use visuals, number lines, diagrams, and relatable examples to make abstract concepts feel concrete and accessible.
A typical session includes a quick review to reinforce previous learning, followed by guided instruction on new topics using visuals and active questioning. We then work through problems together, and I challenge students to explain their thinking—helping solidify understanding and identify any gaps. Lessons are always adapted to the student’s pace and learning style.
What sets me apart is my patient, supportive approach and my ability to break down complex ideas into manageable steps. Having worked closely with students of different needs and abilities, I know how to build both skills and self-belief.
