About Arkan
Hello! My name is Arkan, and I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Computer Science at Texas A&M University. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin, and I’ve worked as a professional software engineer for the past three years across a wide range of environments—from early-stage startups to large-scale corporations. This diverse experience has given me a deep understanding of both the theoretical and practical sides of technology.
In addition to my industry experience, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a teaching assistant for four different university-level courses, ranging in complexity from introductory C/C++ programming to advanced courses in hardware design. I’ve worked with students at various stages of their academic careers, and I always strive to meet them where they are with patience, respect, and a genuine desire to help them grow.
I bring to every session not just technical knowledge in software, hardware, and mathematics, but also an inquisitive mind and a kind heart. My goal is to build a space where students feel heard, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
I'm excited to work with you and help you succeed on your learning journey!

As a tutor, my approach centers around patience, active listening, and creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and questions. I believe that learning is most impactful when students are guided to discover answers on their own rather than simply being told what to do. That's why I begin every lesson by listening carefully—understanding where the student is in their learning journey, what challenges they’re facing, and how they process information best.
My primary method is the Socratic approach, which means I guide students by asking thoughtful, open-ended questions that lead them to analyze, evaluate, and come to conclusions on their own. This method builds critical thinking skills and helps them become more independent and confident learners. I also place a strong emphasis on learning how to learn, equipping students with study strategies, problem-solving techniques, and the ability to ask the right questions when faced with new material.
A typical session starts with a short conversation to understand what the student is working on or struggling with. I then review the relevant material and problems, and from there, we walk through concepts together. I ask guiding questions that lead the student to piece together the understanding themselves, offering support and clarification where needed. This way, the student not only understands the current material but also learns how to approach future topics more independently.
What sets me apart is my deep commitment to patience and attentiveness. I recognize that each student learns differently and that real understanding takes time. I never rush my students. I listen first, and respond with compassion and encouragement. I see my role not just as a tutor, but as a mentor who helps students build curiosity and confidence in their ability to learn.
I tutor students ranging from middle school to college level, including those preparing for standardized exams, tackling advanced placement coursework, or enrolled in college-level classes. Whether the subject is mathematics, computer science, or other foundational academic skills, I tailor each lesson to the student’s level and needs, ensuring a personalized and effective learning experience.
In every lesson, my ultimate goal is to help students become curious, self-motivated learners who are equipped with the tools to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
