My foundation is the idea that students learn by building on prior knowledge. I don't just lecture – we actively explore Python through examples and problems tailored to the student's existing understanding. I use diagrams, flowcharts, and online coding environments to make abstract concepts tangible and allow for experimentation.
Typical Lesson Structure
- Concept Intro (10-15 min): Brief, clear explanation of a core Python idea (e.g., functions, loops), using visuals and relating it back to previous knowledge.
- Guided Practice (20-25 min): We work together on problems designed around the concept, with me asking questions and offering hints, not just solutions.
- Independent Challenge (15-20 min): Student tackles a slightly harder problem on their own, I provide support without directly giving answers.
- Review & Reflection (5-10 min): We discuss what was learned, what was tough, and how it connects to bigger Python goals.
