About Adam

I’m a University of Florida graduate with a B.S. in Computer Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. For more than 10 years, I’ve worked professionally as a software engineer, where math, logic, and problem-solving are a regular part of what I do.
I’ve always enjoyed math and especially enjoy helping others get past the point where a problem feels confusing or intimidating. My engineering background has taught me how to break complicated problems into smaller, manageable pieces and explain them in different ways until they make sense.
I bring real-world technical experience along with a strong academic foundation in mathematics, but I also understand that not everyone learns the same way or at the same pace. My goal is to create a relaxed, patient environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and ultimately becoming more confident solving problems on their own.

About the lesson

I have a B.S. in Computer Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Florida, along with more than 10 years of professional experience as a software engineer.

I enjoy breaking complicated problems into smaller, understandable steps and helping students understand why a solution works rather than simply memorizing a formula.

My approach is tailored to each student. We’ll start by identifying what you’re currently working on and where you’re getting stuck. From there, I’ll explain the underlying concept, work through examples with you, and then have you solve similar problems while I provide guidance when needed. I want students to become comfortable solving problems independently rather than relying on someone to give them the answer.

A typical lesson can include reviewing homework or class material, explaining difficult concepts in a different way, working through practice problems together, and focusing on areas that need additional reinforcement. I’m also happy to adjust lessons around an upcoming test, quiz, or assignment.

What sets me apart is my engineering background. I’ve spent my career solving complex technical problems, so I can show students how mathematical and logical thinking is actually applied outside the classroom. I’m patient, approachable, and understand that the same explanation doesn’t work for everyone.

I’m available to help middle school, high school, and college students with mathematics, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus, as well as students who want help strengthening their general math and problem-solving skills.
