About Jan
I am an English tutor with a college campus ministry background. While I have taught large group classes of international students, I specialize in small groups and one-on-one assistance with projects. I have helped students prepare to take the GED and other tests. I have helped students edit and sharpen thesis papers, research papers, and Statement of Purpose entrance documents.

My teaching methodology involves encouragement, humor, and the Socratic method. I feel strongly that students should learn to think critically and be able to defend their beliefs in a fair exchange. I'll also do my best to discover the individual's learning style and proceed accordingly. That said, I also am a firm believer in progress, not perfection. The link to a video I was asked to make for ESL students gives a taste of my approach in teaching.
