About Regan
I am a graduate of Concordia University Texas and I have been passionate about reading and writing ever since I was a child. My parents used to have to tear me from my books to get me to pay attention to anything else! In college, I decided to add a writing minor to my communication major because I wanted to expand my writing abilities, as well as create written pieces that were persuasive and impactful. I realized how much I enjoyed editing and helping others achieve this goal for themselves when my peers started to reach out for my help in putting together and writing their own essays. Soon I was helping students across all subjects, from business to history, to creative nonfiction. Although I never officially worked on campus as a tutor, I was able to help a number of classmates in understanding prompt, organization, citations, and other writing challenges. Additionally, I became the Writing Center liaison for the Communication Major, being the point of contact for anyone in the program with questions or concerns.

I was able to develop a teaching method that helped my classmates understand the WHY and not just the HOW organization, diction, and format adds to the overall strength of a written piece. I approach each topic by first asking the student what (the purpose of the essay) they want to argue in everyday terms, this way they have a constant and clear thesis they can return to as they are working to write a cohesive and persuasive piece. From there we work on their arguing points, informative points, and sources to back their thesis and work on the order the student wishes to present this information. Here it is important to me to help the student understand why and how the structure and organization of information can be so impactful. Once they understand it becomes easier for them to create effective, informative, and persuasive written pieces on their own. After that, it becomes a matter of cleaning up grammar and diction!
