About Zahra
Hello! I’m a recent graduate from Yale-NUS College, where I earned First Class Honours in Physical Sciences with a minor in Environmental Studies. My academic journey has been shaped by curiosity about how the physical world works and how we can use science to create a more sustainable future. I’m currently working in marine science research and agriculture, where I apply scientific thinking to real-world environmental challenges.
Before university, I completed my A-Levels in Physics, Maths and Chemistry at The Henrietta Barnett School, achieving 3 As, and previously attended Mill Hill School, where I earned eight 9s, one 8, and one 7 in my GCSEs. Based on my academic achievement and community involvement, I was awarded the Wu Hsioh Kwang Scholarship to study at Yale-NUS in Singapore.
As a tutor, I aim to make learning engaging, adaptable and confidence-building. My experience as a teaching assistant at a Religious Education School taught me the importance of individualised learning — understanding that each student thrives in different ways. I’ve also tutored GCSE-level Maths and Sciences, developing strategies that use auditory, visual and kinaesthetic methods to help students connect deeply with the material.
Having attended 10 educational institutions across 4 continents, I know first-hand how to adapt to different learning environments and educational systems. I understand the stress of exams and the pressure of academic expectations, and I’m here to help you navigate them successfully — from mastering content and exam technique to creating realistic revision schedules and understanding what examiners are looking for. My goal is for every student to “befriend the syllabus” and approach assessments with clarity and confidence.
Outside of academics, I’m passionate about sign language and inclusivity in education. During lockdown, I created an online course, Talking Hands, and led weekly virtual sign language classes for learners aged 8–60+.
Lastly, having applied and been accepted into universities in the UK, USA, Canada, and Singapore, I’m also happy to offer university admissions guidance — from writing personal statements and essays to interview preparation and scholarship applications.
I look forward to helping you grow as a learner and to sharing the satisfaction of seeing your hard work turn into real progress!

Zahra has been a close acquaintance and I have been witnessing her incredible teaching skills for a few years now . Zahra's teaching style is exceptional, marked by patience, clarity, and adaptability which are tailored to meet the needs of each student. It is evident that she strives to develop a supportive learning environment - first by understanding the student's current abilities and then pushing them to reach to their full potential. She encourages her students to ask questions to strengthen their understanding. Moreover, her interactive teaching style helps students retain information for longer whilst also helping them feel confident on the topic.
Having Zahra as my GCSE chemistry tutor was a blessing- she explained everything so simply and really acred about my understanding of the subject. chemistry can be complex but she made it so much easier to grasp. I learnt several exam techniques which helped me to do well and predict the style of questions highly reducing my exam stress levels. She suggested excellent resources and gave extra time and effort to help out- she will be a great tutor to you!
I highly recommend Zahra to be your tutor - she was incredibly supportive and helped me improve my GCSE maths grade from a 6 to an 8!
I am naturally much more drawn to humanities but after being tutored in maths by Zahra I learnt to really enjoy this subject and this was highly influenced by herff de passion for maths. She is so patient, is always happy to explain concepts in different ways and also helped me create a revision timetable that ensured I kept up with the work. Through her teaching, I learnt how to tackle the toughest questions and now am pursuing maths to further study. Thank you so much Zahra!View more recommendations
