About Matthew
I am a Certified Flight Instructor who also earned a Bachelor of Science: Professional Pilot providing me with a strong academic and practical foundation in FAA-regulated subjects, including aerodynamics, navigation, weather theory, and flight operations. I bring real-world flight experience into my teaching to help students understand how classroom concepts apply in actual flying environments. My approach is structured, patient, and focused on building true understanding rather than memorization, ensuring students feel confident both in exams and in real aviation decision-making. A typical lesson includes identifying problem areas, breaking the topic down step-by-step, applying it to FAA-style questions or real flight scenarios, and finishing with quick review questions to reinforce understanding. What sets me apart is my real-world experience as a commercial pilot-in-training, which allows me to explain material in a practical, cockpit-relevant way. My tutoring is designed for student pilots at the private and instrument level, aviation degree students, and anyone preparing for FAA written exams who wants stronger conceptual understanding and improved test performance.
