About Sarah
I care about my students, in the classroom or in private tutoring settings. As a first generation college graduate, I understand the struggle to succeed and I am empathetic to that pressure. In addition to these qualities, I have over 15 years of experience teaching writing, working with first year college students, and evaluating written work. Finally, I have private tutoring experience at the middle school, high school, and college levels.

I use a student-centered approach that focuses on what the student feels least confident learning. I ask questions to learn about the student's struggles and then use my expertise to provide guidance and helpful materials. In one lesson, we might review past confusing worksheets or assignments, look at new techniques to encourage confidence and independence, and focus on areas with significance in the student's upcoming coursework. I review syllabi and assignments to familiarize myself with the student's classes and struggles.
I can help high school students prepare for university and I can help university students excel in their courses. In addition to academics, I focus on "studenting" and study skills, as well as time management and self-empowerment.
