About Jason

My name is Jason. I have been a full-time Community College Mathematics Professor for over 20 years, and I’m also a proud graduate of the Community College system myself. I hold an AA, BA, and MA in Mathematics, with a focus in Pure Mathematics and Teaching. I have been teaching online for just as long, and I’m very comfortable helping students learn in a virtual setting. I work with students one-on-one to clarify concepts, strengthen understanding, and build confidence. I understand that many people find math frustrating. My approach is patient and supportive. I focus on helping students understand the meaning behind the math, which reduces anxiety and makes problem solving feel more natural. About the lesson

I help students understand the why behind the math, not just how to follow steps or memorize formulas. When students learn the reasoning that connects each idea, they build confidence, clarity, and the ability to solve new problems on their own.

I begin by identifying where a student is getting stuck and what foundational skills may need strengthening. From there, we work on the current material in a way that makes sense, so progress happens both in the moment and long-term.

One thing that makes my approach different is that I teach learning strategies, not only math content. This includes how to take useful notes, how to practice effectively, and how to recognize patterns in problem types. These skills apply to every subject, though we focus specifically on what helps you succeed in math. My goal is for students to become self-sufficient so that over time they rely on me less.

I tutor all levels of mathematics, from elementary school through the first two years of college. Specialties include Prealgebra, Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus 1, Linear Algebra, and Statistics.
