About Judah

I have been working with students in various capacities for over 10 years. I have worked in a variety of roles with students and always seek to maintain a non-judgemental, welcoming approach so the students are comfortable exploring the concepts with me. My math skills are polished on currently a daily basis, so I am confident that I will be able to provide clear and concise teaching on the needed subject material.

About the lesson

I primarily approach concepts at face level first (pythagorean theorem is a^2+b^2=c^2 then add on alternate ways of seeing it, real life applications, and how I like to solve specific problems involving the concept to add as much variety and semantic meaning as I can. The more association built up around the concept, the more likely it is to be remembered and the more likely that one of the ways it has been explained will be a way that works for that person's thinking methods.
My typical lesson plan if not based on current schoolwork is a progression from angles to shapes to triangles to quadrilaterals to polygons with more sides than that with all the needed concepts inbetween.
I have a bachelors degree in psychology and have learned a variety of learning methods and know how the brain processes and retains knowledge. Additionally, i'm seeking a masters in counseling and have a healthy understanding of how much help a stress free environment can be when learning. I focus on offering feedback that is not personally attacking the student to encourage them to remain comfortable answering my questions.
My lessons in math and geometry will be geared towards 1-12th grade.
