About Thomas
With more than 40 years in education, dual master's degrees, and over 20 years as an AP Reader, I help students develop authentic, compelling essays that reflect their experiences, values, and goals.
I'm a college essay coach, writing mentor, and AP Literature teacher. My coaching is direct, practical, and specific. I help students strengthen their ideas, organize their stories, and communicate clearly in their own voices.
Over the past 30 years, my students have earned admission to Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Brown, the University of Chicago, and many other highly selective universities.
Expertise includes Common App personal statements, supplemental essays, short-answer responses, "Why Us?" essays, and graduate school applications. I also help with topic selection, structure, voice, revision, and line editing.
I work with a limited number of students to provide individualized attention and timely feedback. We'll develop a clear plan, establish goals, and begin drafting right away. Message me to get started.
I take only a few students to keep it personal. We’ll set a plan and draft your first piece right away with clear next steps. Message me to start.

Goal: Help you tell your story with clarity, authenticity, and confidence.
Kickoff: We review your experiences, activities, and goals, identify strong topics, and create a plan that fits your application deadlines.
Draft cycles: You write. I return detailed comments and specific suggestions, usually within 12–24 hours, to improve clarity, structure, voice, and effectiveness.
Strategy: We tailor each essay to the prompt and the school, avoid repetition across applications, and keep your voice front and center.
Outcome: Clear, polished essays that sound like you and reflect your strengths, experiences, and goals.
My role is to guide, challenge, and coach students throughout the process. The ideas and writing remain their own.
