About Candina
I am a dedicated educator, parent, and partner based in Nova Scotia, Canada, with experience teaching middle and high school English, as well as senior high History. I hold a Bachelor of Education from Acadia University and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Francis Xavier University. With eight years of classroom teaching experience, I bring a strong understanding of curriculum, student needs, and effective instructional strategies. I specialize in supporting students from early literacy levels to post-secondary academic writing. As a tutor, I provide structured, engaging, and personalized lessons that build skills and confidence. As a tutor, I focus on building foundational skills and confidence in learners at all levels from early readers and writers to post-secondary students. My lessons begin with a quick review, followed by targeted instruction, guided practice, and collaborative growth through practice. I adapt each session to the student’s needs, using clear models, real-world examples, and ongoing feedback. With 8 years of classroom experience, extensive professional development, and a Master’s in Education (Curriculum), I bring both expertise and empathy to my teaching. My approach is rooted in inquiry-based and culturally responsive strategies, creating a supportive environment where students feel seen and capable.
