About Vern

I am currently a PhD student in Classics at UCLA and have a BA in Classics and a BS in Anthropology from Loyola University Chicago. I completed graduate work at Columbia University in the Classics department in 2025. My area of specialty is in disability and embodiment in Ancient Tragedy, specifically Sophocles and Seneca. About the lesson

I tailor my tutoring sessions to each students needs, building a strong foundation in grammar, syntax, and reading comprehension. I am happy to use any Latin grammar book or reading materials the student is assigned in class, and I often am able to help make homework and readings accessible to struggling students. I have made various helpful guides with grammar, explaining various rules of the language as thoroughly as possible. A typical lesson is suited for students who are at a beginning-intermediate level, especially for students who are just starting to read and would like to review their grammar and syntax in real time.
