About Chris
My main career and aspiration is to ski, snowboard, and paraglide. I have been coaching skiing and snowboarding for many years now and want to be able to move somewhere where this is possible every year. I am extremely passionate about coaching people to improve in their skills, it brings back the feelings towards the sport or activity that I used to feel when I was learning it fresh. You live vicariously through their accomplishment, making you feel the same joy. I am Rated 1600 on chess.com in blitz chess, speed chess being my speciality. There will of course be higher rated tutors than me here, however this is perfect for beginners or children alike looking to up their game! I really hope you will consider picking me as your coach!

I believe that a strong foundation is key to becoming a confident chess player. My teaching method focuses on guiding beginners from scratch, ensuring they understand the rules, piece movement, and basic strategies before progressing to tactical techniques. I use a combination of puzzles, interactive explanations, and guided gameplay to reinforce learning in a fun and engaging way. By breaking down concepts step by step, I help students grasp essential ideas such as board control, checkmating patterns, and piece coordination. Each lesson typically lasts at least 30 minutes, as this provides enough time for explanation, practice, and review. Shorter sessions may feel rushed, while longer lessons can sometimes be overwhelming for younger students. However, I adapt to individual learning paces, offering flexibility for those who want more in-depth training. With one year of online chess coaching experience and nearly 10 years of working with children as a ski and snowboard instructor, I understand how to create a supportive and motivating environment. I have received positive reviews from students and parents, highlighting my patient and engaging teaching style. Having spent years mentoring kids in various disciplines, I know how to inspire confidence and make learning an enjoyable experience. My lessons are designed primarily for beginners, but also intermediate players of any age who are looking to develop their chess skills from the ground up.
