My name is Sam Messina and I am a member of the SHU Dance Company (pre-professional dance program). I grew up in a dance studio on Long island (NY), dancing for 12+ years in styles ranging from contemporary and lyrical to tap and ballet. I am a 4-year Varsity dance team alumni (styles of Kickline, Jazz, Team and Pom). I traveled all over for regional and national competitions for both my competitive studio and school dance teams, and even competed in a self-choreographed solo my senior year of high school. I have trained with a wide variety of teachers and choreographers in both studio and dance team settings, and now focus on contemporary/contemporary fusion-based training in my college years. I am a student choreographer and recently created a 7-minute contemporary piece to a song by Noah Kahan that performed at the company show. I am a dance minor, exercise science major, am going to DPT school next year, and spend my summers teaching and leading workshops at hometown dance studios. I am passionate about my love for dance and spreading that joy to those around me. I love my dance community and hope to bring my choreography and experiences to those who would like to improve their dancing, learn a cool combo, or simply enjoy the art. I LOVE dancing with my friends and teaching choreography and I highly recommend my dance lessons!

About the lesson

Welcome! I am a remote (zoom) online dance instructor. As a student dancer and choreographer, I combine my unique contemporary-based style with my wide variety of training and teaching experiences to provide high quality dance lessons to all ages, from 4yrs-Sr dancers.
Lessons include:
Warmup and Stretch
Skill Focus (dance style-based)
Combo (level and pace specific to individual needs!)

As a dance tutor and current college dancer, I provide an energetic, supportive and joyful environment to beginner, medium and advanced level dancers. Lessons will be individual based to what the dancer wants to work on!

Upon request, I will tutor in:
-Contemporary/Lyrical/Jazz (beginner to advanced)
-Improv (improvisation workshop)
-Beginner tap/ballet
-Zumba (exercise classes)(fun)(easy
