About Noah
Recent graduate from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN with a bachelors of science in neuroscience. Planning on attending dental school Fall 2023.
Chess is unlike any other board game with a rich history and fierce level of competition. I am a firm believer in the mental benefits of playing chess, as a way to develop critical thinking skills, increase spatial IQ, and improve executive function/planning skills. Through my study of how the brain operates through neuroscience I cannot stress enough how beneficial chess can be to someone of any age, but especially to developing minds.

Able to meet the level of students completely new to the game of chess, or those who have several years experience. Teaching strategy modulated by the level of the individual.
Beginners:
- mechanics of the game:
- piece movement
- special moves (castling, en passant)
- basic strategies and openings
Intermediates:
- best openings to the game (situational)
- more advanced chess theory
- advanced checkmates
I have experience teaching students that range from never touching a chess board to those in the 1100-1200 rating range. Very flexible and can modulate teaching style to accommodate student's experience.
