About Brian
I am a retired Head of Chemistry and do tutoring because I enjoy it. Many students struggle with chemistry, especially at A level, and many of them need to get a good grade in order to progress to the University course of their choice. I do have a record of success in helping students at A level and GCSE, particularly in the past few years when learning at school /college has been less than ideal due to the COVID pandemic.
I do, of course, have a current enhanced DBS certificate.

Most of my tutees are at A level and I am of course familiar with the OCR, AQA and Edexcel syllabuses. I believe strongly in presenting the subject matter clearly and also in engaing students in learning activity - that is, they need to work with the subject rather than being simply told factual material. I have a wide range of my own teaching materials including animated powerpoint revision packages. I give one hour lessons but invariably they extend to 70 or even 80 minutes, at same fee, obviously. I have a Masters Degree in Chemical and Biochemical Sciences in Education as well as a BSc (2i) in Microbiology with Chemistry and a PGCE graduate teaching qualification.
