About Ben

I'm Ben, currently studying chemistry at the University of Oxford. I'm moving into my 2nd year of study, having completed my 1st year with a distinction. I went to school at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys, in Birmingham.

Above all, I'm passionate about my subject. I have a wealth of theoretical but also practical knowledge due to my participation in a number of research projects (in both teams and as an independent).
Hopefully my enthusiasm will help make the content easier to digest / understand!

Here is some of my relevant experience:
- During my A-levels I was a teaching assistant for KS3 pupils.
- I took part and excelled in every major competition / research opportunity available to me - there shouldn't be anything you're studying for that I haven't seen before!
- I have experience teaching chemistry as a TA, but also in a 1-to-1 capacity: I've tutored family members at GCSE and A-level. I'm adaptable, patient and understanding.
- If it helps, I've been told by fellow undergraduates that I'm a great teacher (you'll have to take my word on that).

About the lesson

I provide support with GCSE & A-level chemistry, physics and (further) mathematics as well as 1st year content for most university chemistry courses. I also do preparation for the RSC UK chemistry Olympiad and Oxbridge chemistry applications - including practice interviews.

Session structure and format are dependent on the subject (e.g mock interview, organic chemistry class, practice papers, etc), but generally I aim for 30 mins - 1 hr for time.

Credentials (available upon request):
- 10 GCSEs: All with grade 9.

- Gold medals in the 2022 and 2023 RSC Chemistry Olympiads, Roentgenium medal in the 2022 C3L6. Gold medal in the 2022 BPhO Physics Olympiad.

- A-levels (A*A*A*A):
Chemistry ADV (AQA): A* ; Physics ADV - Engineering (AQA): A* ; Mathematics (OCR MEI B): A* ; Further Mathematics (OCR MEI B): A.

- EPQ: Graded A*

- MChem, University of Oxford, Balliol College:
Completed 1st year with a distinction.
Predicted honours: 1st
