About Andrew

Working on my bachelor's degree in chemistry, I am still very much in the learning stage of my life. Just a few years ago, I was wrestling with AP STEM classes myself, and it has not gotten much easier from there. However, as someone who is largely unable to mindlessly breeze through difficult, heavily technical content, I have developed my own strategies that work wonderfully for me; they allowed me to become valedictorian of my high school class! If my approaches don't work for you, I am more than willing to help you figure out your own systems and habits so that you too can excel and succeed!

About the lesson

Hello!
I begin every tutoring session by asking my students exactly what they want/need to work on, so that I can refresh my personal knowledge and ensure that I stay sharp for whatever questions they may have. Once the session actually begins, I open with a relatively general overview of the material before jumping into example problems. In my experience, this helps me the most. We spend extra time on any concepts that the student has a particularly tough time grasping, and I always attempt to break things down to the fundamentals and build back up from basic principles if a specific idea is especially thorny. STEM subjects did not come naturally to me, so I know what it takes to build a solid understanding, and I have helped many others do the same! As a sophomore in college, most of the content that I am comfortable tutoring is high school level, but within that range, I can help with anything up to AP level.
