About Amelia
I am a college chemistry professor in Wisconsin. I got my PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of California San Diego and have been tutoring and teaching ever since. I love problem solving and I love teaching. Tutoring gives me a chance to work with students one-on-one and get deeper into the material.

I like to do 1.5 hours sessions focused on a topic, but I am flexible depending on student need. Happy to work through specific assignments or to provide my own additional practice material to work through together. I follow a see one, do one, explain one approach where I will show students how to solve a problem, have them solve that type of problem, and then explain it back to me to ensure that they're really understanding the material. I believe in building confidence and that anyone can tackle challenging material with the right support.
I have experience working with middle school, high school, and college students in subjects including algebra, chemistry, physics, biology and other math classes. As a current college professor I understand the materials deeply and have spent a lot of time thinking about how students learn.
