About Aulia
That "Aha!" moment is contagious and something that I find great joy in finding when going through exercises. I relish sharing those emoments with friends and juniors at school and university, adding a profound layer of meaning to the learning journey.
Throughout my tutoring experience, there were instances when revisiting certain problems was necessary. Some found specific topics challenging, but the dedication and time invested were consistently worthwhile. These challenges became opportunities to grow a deeper interest in Chemistry.
Beyond my personal teaching experiences, education runs in my family's veins. In fact, my granddad was one of the teachers tasked by the Indonesian government at the time to do a service in Papua to better the education there and help resolve the unrest that occurred at the time. My dad, in his capacity as a lecturer, is able to fly his students to places and have them be exposed to and experience new things. Thus, for me, being a teacher, even in the capacity of a tutor, is not just an academic journey but a life journey.

Qualification/Experience & Level of Teaching:
I am currently pursuing my MRes (Research Masters) in Nanomaterials (Chemistry) at Imperial College London. While my primary expertise lies in Chemistry, I am also adept in Physics and Maths. During my undergraduate years at Universitas Gadjah Mada, I provided tutoring to first and second-year university students. Additionally, I taught first-year chemistry undergraduates at Diponegoro University in Indonesia. My passion for education led me to volunteer as a facilitator at the Asy-Syifa Birmingham madrasah, where I tailored my teaching to children aged 2 to 11.
Teaching Approach:
Before our first session, I will inquire about the lesson plans and materials provided by your school/college. Each lesson will typically last an hour.
In our initial meeting, a significant portion of our time will be dedicated to getting to know each other, fostering meaningful interactions, and building connections. I believe that understanding a student's background and interests is crucial for effective teaching. We will discuss how they are currently navigating their lessons and go through some exercises to identify both strengths and challenges.
Subsequent meetings will follow a structured approach. We will review previous materials, delve into new concepts, and tackle problems independently. This will be followed by a guided run-through of the problems to reinforce their understanding.
It is also important that we incorporate some personal stories and entertainment to make the lessons as enjoyable as possible. I belive that a tutor is not only a teacher but also a mentor and a friend to their students.
