About Anna
Hi, I’m Anna! I’m currently pursuing my PhD in Chemistry and hold a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. I also have previous tutoring experience from my undergraduate studies and experience working with students as a teaching assistant.
I have a strong academic background in both chemistry and mathematics, but I also understand that knowing a subject and teaching it are two different skills. I strive to be patient, approachable, and adaptable, and I want students to feel comfortable telling me when something doesn’t make sense or when they need a different explanation.
I work with students across a wide range of levels, from foundational math through Calculus III and from introductory chemistry through college General Chemistry. Whether you need occasional help with a difficult topic, preparation for an upcoming exam, or consistent support throughout a course, I’m happy to tailor our sessions to your individual needs and goals.

Hi, I’m Anna! I tutor chemistry and math for middle school, high school, and college students.
My tutoring approach is highly adaptable to each student. I typically begin by asking how the student is doing in the course, what they are currently working on, and what concepts or types of problems they are struggling with. Rather than following the same lesson plan for every student, I use their specific questions and difficulties to guide our sessions.
Once we identify an area that is causing trouble, I ask the student to show me an example of where they got stuck. From there, I usually use an **“I do, we do, you do”** approach. First, I work through an example while explaining both the steps and the reasoning behind them. Then, we work through a similar problem together, with the student taking a more active role. Finally, I have the student try a problem independently while I provide guidance if needed. This helps me identify exactly where confusion remains and gives the student practice applying the concept on their own.
I also recognize that different explanations work for different students. If something isn't clicking, I’m happy to slow down, approach it from another direction, review an earlier concept, or work through additional examples. My goal isn't just to help a student get the right answer, but to help them understand why their approach works and become more confident solving similar problems independently.
I can work with students in middle-school math through Calculus III, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Precalculus, as well as high-school/AP Chemistry, introductory chemistry, and General Chemistry I & II. Sessions can be adapted to homework help, concept review, exam preparation, or ongoing support throughout a course.
