About Daniel
I’m a fifth-year PhD student in Chemistry at Harvard with over 10 years of experience in academia. At Harvard, I’ve taught Physical Sciences 10 and 11, and I work with students from a perspective that combines strong subject mastery with real day-to-day research experience. My main area of expertise is chemistry, but my background is broad: I have two undergraduate degrees in chemistry and physics, a master’s from Harvard in chemistry, Chemistry Olympiad experience, and nine research papers. I also work extensively with programming and quantitative methods, including MATLAB, Python, and C++, as well as simulations, computational chemistry tools like Gaussian and ORCA, and optics.
What I bring as a tutor is not just subject knowledge, but range. I’m a generalist with deep chemistry expertise, which means I can help students understand connections across chemistry, physics, math, computation, and related fields rather than treating each topic in isolation. That is especially useful for students working on research projects, advanced coursework, or trying to come up with strong project ideas. Because I actively use the skills I teach in my own research every day, I focus on helping students build practical understanding, problem-solving ability, and scientific intuition that carries beyond a single class or exam.

I focus on building real understanding rather than memorization, and I like breaking difficult ideas into simple, intuitive steps. I have experience teaching real undergraduate classes at Harvard and have a broad range of experience in study and research, so I can help you build important skills for both.
Whether you need help with classwork, exam prep, problem sets, or just getting unstuck on confusing topics, I aim to make sessions clear, efficient, and tailored to how you learn.
