About Shanmukh
Hi, I'm your Chemistry & Science tutor — and I'm a student myself, which means I can teach the way I actually wish I'd been taught.
Science is what I want to build my life around. I'm heading into the IB Diploma with Higher Level Chemistry and Physics, working toward a degree in Physical Oceanography at the University of Sydney. Chemistry isn't just a subject I do well in — it's part of the path I'm genuinely excited about, and that energy comes through when I teach.
A few things about me beyond the grades:
- I compete in the World Scholar's Cup, where I've trained to break down big, complicated questions and explain clear answers — exactly the skill that makes confusing Chemistry topics finally click.
- I'm building real science projects too, including a science-communication YouTube channel. Explaining hard ideas in a simple, memorable way is something I practice all the time.
- I love turning "I don't get it" into "oh, that makes sense!" I focus on real understanding, everyday examples, and building confidence — not just memorizing for a test.
What I teach:
- IB MYP Chemistry & general Science (Grades 6–10)
- Middle school and early high school Chemistry
- Exam prep, revision, homework help, and assignment support
Because I'm going through the IB science pathway myself, I know exactly where students get stuck — balancing equations, moles, bonding, reactions — and how to make them feel easy. Chemistry can feel like a subject full of random rules to memorize — but it doesn't have to. I help students see the logic behind it so it finally makes sense.
I'm a science student heading into the IB Diploma with Higher Level Chemistry, and I tutor Chemistry and general Science for middle and early high school students (Grades 6–10), including IB MYP.
What we'll work on:
- Core concepts: atoms, the periodic table, bonding, reactions, acids & bases, moles and stoichiometry
- Balancing equations and solving numerical problems step by step
- Exam and test preparation, revision, and past-paper practice
- Homework, assignments, and lab report help
How I teach:
- I break tough topics into simple, everyday explanations
- I use real-life examples and diagrams so concepts stick
- I focus on understanding and confidence, not rote memorization
- I go at your pace and make sessions genuinely enjoyable
Since I'm currently on the IB science pathway myself, I know the syllabus and the common trip-ups from a student's point of view. Sessions are online and flexible, and we can start with a short intro call to make sure it's the right fit.
