About Selin

I am passionate about helping students build confidence in chemistry by creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. With a strong understanding of the high school chemistry curriculum and hands-on experience tutoring students, I am committed to making challenging concepts clear and approachable. In addition to tutoring, I also coach volleyball, which has helped me develop excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to motivate learners of all levels. This experience reinforces my belief that learning is most effective when students feel encouraged and supported. I take great care with spelling, grammar, and professionalism to ensure every lesson is clear and productive. My goal is to help each student not only succeed academically but also enjoy the learning process.

About the lesson

I believe in making chemistry both understandable and engaging by breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable parts. My approach combines interactive explanations, real-life examples, and practical problem-solving exercises to help students grasp both theory and application. I emphasize active learning, encouraging students to ask questions and think critically rather than just memorize facts. I also tailor lessons to each student's learning style and pace, ensuring they build confidence step-by-step.
My lessons usually last between 60 to 90 minutes. This timeframe allows us to cover new material thoroughly, work through practice problems, and review any challenging topics from previous sessions without overwhelming the student.
I am knowledgeable in the high school chemistry curriculum and have experience helping students understand core topics such as atomic structure, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, acids and bases, and organic chemistry basics. My background includes both academic study and practical application, which equips me to clarify difficult concepts and support exam preparation effectively.
I primarily tutor high school students who want to strengthen their chemistry knowledge—whether they’re struggling to keep up, preparing for exams, or aiming to excel beyond the curriculum. My lessons are suitable for learners from early high school to senior levels and can be adapted for different exam boards or syllabi as needed.
